Secure The Grant is an independent South African website that explains SASSA social grants in plain language — how to apply, what a status means, when money is paid, how to appeal, and how to avoid the scams built around all of it. It is written by Muhammad Zaid and checked by Haris Shafique, is free to read, never asks for your ID number, and is not SASSA.
Millions of South Africans depend on a grant paid by the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA): the Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant for unemployed adults, and the permanent grants for older people, people living with a disability, and children. The official information is spread across portals, notices and social media posts, and the gap is filled by websites that copy each other, guess at dates, or ask for an ID number they have no business with.
This site exists to be the page you can trust when something is unclear: one question answered first, the reason explained second, every figure dated and sourced, and the official channel named for anything only SASSA can do.
