I write about South African social grants — the SRD grant and the permanent grants — and I'm responsible for everything this site covers.
Over the past nine years I've worked as a content writer, mostly on subjects where getting a detail wrong has real consequences for the reader. That's made me unreasonably particular about a few things: whether a claim is checked against an official source before it's published, whether a page answers the question someone actually came with, and whether they can find that answer in under ten seconds instead of scrolling past everything else to get to it.
Deciding what this site covers, in what order, and how thoroughly, is also my job. New guides go up only once every figure in them has been through the checks described on how we verify — nothing is published to fill a gap in the schedule.
This site is where I put what I've learned about SASSA grants — how status checks, declines, appeals and payments actually work. Everything here is written to answer a specific question first and explain it properly second. Where I'm uncertain, I say so.
If you have a question or spot something wrong, message me on Facebook — I read everything.
