This site is built to meet WCAG 2.2 level AA. Every page works with a keyboard alone, with a screen reader, at 200% zoom, on a 320px-wide screen, in dark mode, and with JavaScript switched off. Where something falls short, it is listed below and you are invited to report anything we have missed.
What has been done?
Keyboard
Everything reachable and operable by keyboard, with a visible focus ring. A "skip to content" link is the first thing Tab reaches. Menus close on Escape.
Contrast
Body text is above 7:1 against its background in both light and dark mode; the lowest text contrast on the site is 4.76:1, above the 4.5:1 AA minimum. Control borders meet the 3:1 non-text minimum.
Target size
Buttons and menu controls are at least 44×44px; every other link is at least 24px tall.
Structure
One h1 per page, headings in order, landmarks for header, navigation, main content and footer. Expandable sections use native <details> elements rather than custom scripts.
Motion and colour
Animations and smooth scrolling are disabled when your device asks for reduced motion. Dark mode follows your system setting. Colour is never the only way information is conveyed — every status is also labelled in words.
Text
Body text is 16–17px with generous line spacing, lines are kept to a comfortable reading length, and the site reflows at 320px with no sideways scrolling.
Works without JavaScript
All content and navigation is plain HTML. Scripts only add conveniences.
Known limitations
There is not yet a control to change text size or spacing within the site; use your browser's zoom, which the layout supports to 200% and beyond.
Adverts are supplied by Google and their accessibility is outside our control.
Some official SASSA pages linked from this site may not meet the same standard.
How is it tested?
Contrast ratios and target sizes are measured in the browser, not estimated. Keyboard navigation is checked on every new component. Automated tests run before each change goes live and fail if structured data is invalid, if a heading level is skipped, or if a page stops working without JavaScript.
How do I report a problem?
If any part of this site is hard to use with your assistive technology, please tell us which page and what happened. Barriers are treated as bugs and fixed in priority order.
